Overview

And misfortune rarely comes alone.

You hear Kate express discontent with something. Upon asking what it’s about, she’ll snap back with her usual remark of it being none of your business before you convince her to spill the beans. Kate will reveal her anger is about the cheerleaders "messing up" the invitations to the upcoming Halloween party. Only athletes are allowed access to the annual event, but according to her, she should still be invited anyway despite her no longer being on the cheer squad. The irony of her own rules preventing her from entry being lost on her, you’ll then prompt Kate about the sleeping pills, and your next choice of words will dictate whether Kate has them returned or you keep them. After Kate walks away, you decide to see if you can get an invitation to the party as a middle finger to Kate, so it’s off to the Gym to talk to the cheerleaders.

You can choose if you’d like to relive a past experience and watch the girls practice from atop the bleachers or talk to them. Either way, the fire sprinkler system will suddenly go off and the school will be drenched. Thinking this is Kate’s doing, you decide to head up to Maxine for some camera footage to use as leverage against her. Shortly after you arrive at the Clubroom and talk to Maxine, Kate will arrive and express discontent over climbing the rope. After a short interlude between the two of you, she explains that she's going to host her own Halloween party and demands Maxine make it the front-page headline for the school paper. Maxine states that she will not compromise the newspaper’s integrity, and just before Kate tries to slink away after you bring up the brilliance of the ghost pig story, the sprinkler system will fire off again.

Kate will then storm off in anger and Maxine will state that the system was recently digitized, so you’re off to see Jo about the problem. She explains that the digitization was ordered by the school board as part of yearly maintenance despite the old system working just fine. With all the weird things going on in the school this year, you don't believe the malfunction to be a coincidence, so you seek out Maya for tech help. After some typical intentional innuendoes, she points you to a network hub where the system is set up.

Finding the hub by checking the Computer Lab and then returning to the Entrance Hall, you begin investigating the device before Kate shows up, freshly changed into her old cheerleading outfit. She claims that she's printing up posters for her party that she's hosting in the park and says you're not invited. After you two have your typical banter, the system will fire off again, and you’ll get angry at Kate and tell her to get out of your way. She’ll show some vulnerability from your attitude. You’ll then tease her about how her nipples are hard enough to see through the soaked outfit and she’ll run away in fear. With the router busted after the last sprinkler attack, it’s time to take a load off.

Once 7 PM strikes, you head to the Park to check out Kate's party. You'll see a host of Halloween decorations along with Kate dressed in her angel outfit from Wicked Game, but it's quickly apparent that you two are the only ones there. You’ll overhear Kate talking to Chad over the phone, and upon realizing that he's not coming, she breaks up with him. After praising Kate for her ability to set up the party on short notice and either gloating or trying to cheer her up, lightning will strike and the skies open. Kate will refuse to go inside in hopes someone might show up, so you stay with her and sit by the dying bonfire. You even give her your hoodie so she stays warm. As you both sit in silence and wait for guests who don't arrive, you reflect internally about Kate. Despite how much of a monster she was to you in the past and how she'll probably go back to hating you tomorrow, you realize that tonight, she's just a girl who’s finally realized that her old life is truly dead and just needs comforting.

Missable Interactions

• When Kate says that whatever she's angry about is "none of your business":
  • Saying “Nevermind. I tried.” will have you walk away, where Kate will catch up to you and say it's rude to walk away from a conversation.
    • If you have 12 Strength points, you can tell her that you don't care, with her earning a Love point when she gets intimidated and proceeding to tell you what's bothering her.
    • Asking if she's desperate will have her remind you that nobody likes you, with you clapping back that she could talk to anyone else if she wanted to. She'll concede and tell you what's bothering her.
  • Asking if they increased the electricity bill again will lead to bickering about you not being funny and her potentially forgetting about you, an offer you are willing to sign up for.
  • If you have 10 Love points, you can suggest that she opens up for once. She'll claim that her life is perfect, something you quickly counter by reminding her that she's not on the cheer squad anymore and hasn't been sleeping well. Upon telling her that you're a good listener, you'll gain 1 Love point.

• When Kate asks for the pills back:
  • You can make her say please and thank you if you have 12 Strength points, with her asking what changed about you over fall break.
    • She will also gain 1 Love point upon her sarcastically calling you her hero upon receiving her pills back.
  • Offering a trade will have you offer to give them back in return for 3 sexual favors. She'll decline in disgust and lose 1 Love point.
  • Asking why she needs sleeping pills will have you explain you know a trick to help with nightmares, but won't tell her since she claims she's not having any. She'll desperately ask what the trick is before giving up and taking her pills back.

• When met with the option in the Gym to watch the cheerleaders practice:
  • Watching them practice will give you 2 Lust points. As you watch them, the sprinklers will go off, and Stacy will suggest they all strip and continue practicing. As they do so and you watch them, you'll rub one out to the sight.
  • Not bothering will give you 2 Love points and have a quick conversation with the girls about an invite (which they decline to give), and they’ll run away in panic once the sprinklers go off.

• When Maxine asks what sort of odd things you noticed:
  • Answering that some girls can't be charmed with wits alone will have her agree, that "most charmers drug them, starve them, sew their mouths shut, or pluck out their fangs".
  • Answering that there seems to be more here than meets the eye will have her hint that she's been spying on you fapping in many secret locations throughout the school, but she'll gain 1 Love point as she says some secrets are best kept until she figures them out completely.
  • Answering that she's not wet will have you joke about how she's water-repellent, but at least she can be trusted. She'll gain 1 Lust point as she thanks you and expresses her trust for you, too.

• When Kate asks what you're doing in the Clubroom:
  • Saying you're investigating the faulty sprinklers will have you both claim you thought the other was behind them, to which Maxine will gain 1 Lust point upon explaining that you're both under them.
  • Saying you’re one step ahead of her will lose a Lust point as Kate will call your bluff.
  • If you have 10 Strength points, you can ask how many nails she broke on the way up the rope, prompting her to flip the bird at you. You then gain a Lust and Strength point after you threaten to break her finger if she doesn’t put it away.

• When Kate says she's throwing her own party:
  • Calling it lame will give you 1 Love point as you tell her that someone needs to tell her what to do since she's been surrounded by yes-men for too long.
  • Saying she was always the life of the party will give her 1 Lust point as she agrees with you and calls the cheerleaders delusional bitches.
  • Saying that you're hosting a party as well will give her 1 Love point as she denies that she's scared you may steal some of her guests away.

• When Jo laments that the school board is no longer listening to her:
  • Suggesting she work harder to get them to listen will give you 2 Lust points as you give her a taste of her own medicine, though she'll lose 2 Love points as a result.
    • You'll then say you need to "get to work". If you've started Voluntary Good, she'll gain 1 Love point as she appreciates you taking your hospital volunteering seriously. Otherwise, she'll be left confused on what "work" you're talking about.
  • Assuring her that they'd be screwed without her will give her 2 Love points, thanking you for the praise.

• When Maya asks if you knew the definition of allodoxaphobia:
  • Asking why you'd know that will lead to banter before her explaining she didn't want to hear your opinions, to which you continue to give it anyway.
  • Asking if she'd like to hear your opinion of her will have her claim she doesn't want to be called a whore or a bad kitten and asks if you think you know what's best for her because you're a "big, strong man".
    • If she has 8 Lust points, you can claim that you do and demand she answer a question, giving her 1 Lust point.
    • Denying that claim will have her reiterate that she doesn't want to talk to you, to which you continue to do so, anyway.
  • Suggesting you check her out to make sure she doesn't have it will give you 1 Lust point before she claims she doesn't care if people see her talking to you. You're unsure if that's a compliment or not.

• When chatting with Maya about finding and plugging the “hole”:
  • You can offer assistance with it, her losing a Lust point when you don't go along with her joking about the "hole" being her ass.
  • Asking where you look for the breach will lead to her jokingly playing "hotter and colder" as you guess where the router would be.

• When Kate asks if you're stalking her:
  • Telling her to get over herself will have you assure her that things are different, something she rolls her eyes at.
  • Telling her "not anymore" will leave her confused and creeped out, but then claiming that she doesn't care about your life so it doesn't matter.

• Popping one of the balloons at the party will have Kate get annoyed and request you don’t ruin anything else.
  • Popping the remaining balloons will have her angrily glare at you and tell you you're ruining the party, to which you claim it's better this way. She'll sigh and walk away in defeat. You will also gain 1 Lust point as a result.

• When at the party and Kate asks what you want:
  • If you have 8 Charisma points, you can tell her you want to party. After you dickishly ask if it's one beer per person since you don't want them to run out, you'll gain 1 Charisma point while she loses 1 Lust point.
  • Asking if anyone else is coming will have her sulk in defeat before you suggest that the outdoor setting isn't the problem, but rather she's been usurped. She'll lose 1 Lust point at your claim.
  • If you have 12 Love points, you can tell her you came to check on her. You'll tell her that she can get herself out of this funk she's in, but she needs to stop focusing on insignificant things like her reputation. She'll gain 1 Love point as she asks herself why she's taking advice from you.

Achievements

• Popping all 9 balloons at Kate’s party will give you the ”Party Popper” achievement.
