Maya is a generally reserved student who has withering looks that can kill and biting sarcasm for days. Her hobbies include knitting, killing time online, and cracking prostitution comments at her expense. It takes a lot for her to lower her guard; most people don't care to get close enough to try. If you can meet her sharp sense of humor with a quick comeback or easy laugh, she's more likely to show you more of her softer, docile side.
Appearance
Maya has long, vibrant red hair that cascades past her shoulders, styled with loose bangs framing her face. Two thin braids begin near her temples and are pulled back into a ponytail, fastened with a pink hairpin. She lets the rest of her hair flow down her back. Additionally, Maya has two pink hair clips with two decorative beads securing a small section. Her eyes are violet.
She wears a pale purple hoodie with pink accents and a loose fit, open to reveal a pink top underneath. The jacket also has a cat-like emblem on the left side of her chest. Whenever Maya puts on her hood, cat-like ears stand out (in game can only be seen in the gymnasium). The pink top beneath the jacket is a slightly deeper shade than the accents, with a low but modest neckline.
In addition, she wears a black skirt with three pink stripes going around them. Her bare legs are exposed (although her Chibi is wearing white thigh highs), and her shoes are pink with white accents.
Maya also has a smaller stature, compared to the other girls, standing at 4'11".
Personality
The only person who knits in class and the girl who notoriously can't be charmed, Maya likes cats, yarn, knitting, pink bubble gum, goat milk, computers, and people who can keep up or even match her sense of humor in conversation. She is cunning, knows how to handle herself in even the trickiest predicaments, and likes boldness. Maya also hates to see desperation in people, especially in flirting attempts; by the MC's own admission, "a wall would be more susceptible to romantic advances than her". Additionally, she appears to be particularly guarded against boys.
Maya is an excellent singer, akin to a siren, though she detests it when a person tries to talk about her singing skills and tends to become embarrassed and defensive about her singing. Furthermore, Maya has always been a blazing inferno in the hallways: unpredictable and always unmatched in her quips. However, she does listen to people, especially girls, who can demonstrate a confident and earnest demeanor, for instance, as shown with Isabelle in Big Witch Energy.
Maya is also a master conversationalist and particularly impressed or even sensible when a person can get through her by either catching her off guard, matching her playfulness, or making her open up in subtle ways. In addition, she is very competitive and hates losing, as shown while competing against the MC in Sauce/Off.
As of now, the player is unable to talk or flirt with her fully, only receiving sardonic and ironic remarks in return. The MC also cannot have her contact information, thus being unable to track Love and Lust points with her.
Season 1
Before fully making her debut in Season 2, Maya had only made a single appearance in Season 1, namely in Table Manners, and only in a dream. Nonetheless, she had been built up as an almost mythical student, being repeatedly described as the most guarded, romantically inaccessible, and elusive girl in the entire school, every boy being rejected by her and none of them pulling through her even the slightest. Maya comes off as attractive, mysterious, fierce, and intimidating, but also, according to Lindsey, as cute and charming. The following is a special collection of dialogues, as well as several of MC's monologues on Maya, from Season 1.
Isabelle: "She has a personal mailbox?"
MC: "Well... it's not exactly a mailbox. It's more of a plant."
"For some reason, Maxine started keeping that plant under close observation during our junior year.
A letter there will reach her faster than Maya rejects boys."
Lindsey: "I used to be best friends with another student here. Do you know who?"
MC: "Was it Maya? You're both so adorable, I could totally picture it."
